Making Baby’s First Halloween Safe
Halloween is a lovely time to dress up, have lots of fun and make some unforgettable memories, but we want to help you do that in a safe way too. So, here’s our top tips for keeping your little goblin or ghoul safe this Halloween:
Wear a layer under Baby’s Halloween costume
Fancy dress costumes don’t have to adhere to the same regulations that regular clothes do, this means they can be flammable or even just a bit uncomfortable on Baby’s sensitive skin. So, under Baby’s costume layer up with a vest or romper.
Watch out for wigs
If Baby’s costume comes with any accessories like wigs or beards, make sure they don’t cover their eyes, nose or mouth.
Masks can make it difficult for Baby to see
Baby’s vision is still developing, any masks or anything covering their face can make it more difficult for them, so avoid a mask and instead opt for some non-toxic face paint.
Spooky but safe props
If Baby’s costume comes with any additions or props like wings, swords or wands then make sure they’re safe and comfortable for Baby. Plus, make sure they’re short and flexible so they don’t accidentally hurt themselves.
We hope these tips help you to ensure everyone has a safe and spooky Halloween!
There’s so much going on when you’re new parents and in Baby’s first year, so remember, Baby is only little so they won’t remember it if you decide to skip it this year. But if you’re looking to make Baby’s first Halloween unforgettable and create family traditions for years to come, there’s plenty of ways for them to get involved in matching Halloween costumes and make fantastic family memories.
